Raworths, Harrogate’s leading solicitors, has made four new appointments to start the year in which the law firm will celebrate 125 years in practice.
Raworths has appointed William Kinread, the well-known Ripon solicitor as partner in the Probate, Wills and Trusts Unit which is led by Selena Hinds. This brings the team to nine fee-earners. William comes from Ripon and trained at a national law firm in Leeds before returning to Ripon. He was a partner at Hutchinson and Buchanan for eighteen years and then set up in private practice in the city. He is a trustee of the Ripon Grammar School Foundation and is the current President of Harrogate and District Law Society. William has worked extensively with high-net worth individuals and his specialisations include agriculture and land management issues.

Elizabeth Pollock joins the firm from Brooke North in Leeds where she was an associate solicitor specialising in employment law. Elizabeth is originally from Leeds and trained at Shulmans in the city. Her experience prior to joining Brooke North includes spells with Finn Gledhill in Halifax and Gordons in Leeds. Elizabeth will be joining the Employment Unit headed by Deborah Boylan.
There are two further new appointments in Julie Kerwin who joins the support team in the commercial department and Deborah Williams who is a receptionist.
Raworths was founded in 1886 by Edwin Raworth and was joined by Jabez Butterworth, grandfather of the managing partner, shortly afterwards. The firm moved to its present site at Eton House on Station Parade in 1933 which has been its head office ever since. Over the years, Raworths has amalgamated with a number of smaller firms, most recently with Cawthron, Kelbrick, Lane & Co in 2010. Last year, Raworths was one of the first firms in the country to achieve the Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Accredition. The firm has continued to evolve and now employs 58 including fourteen partners and an additional seventeen fee-earners.
