North Yorkshire Police were called at around 6.30pm on Tuesday 25 October 2011 after reports of a road traffic collision on the A1(m) at Dishforth.
The incident, involving eight vehicles, occurred at junction 49 on the southbound carriageway.
All three lanes were blocked and the road was closed until 9.40pm while the vehicles were recovered.
Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured in the collision, however a number of people suffered minor injuries and were taken to Harrogate District Hospital or Leeds General Infirmary for treatment.
