Officers investigating two vandalism attacks at the home of an elderly woman in Hambleton Place, Thirsk, have ruled out any connection with another incident on the Norby estate.
Many local people have been concerned that the latest incident is connected to another on 24 September in which a 66-year-old woman was pushed over by youths on Norby estate, however this is not the case.
Inspector Dave Murray of Thirsk Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:
The investigation into the vandalism is still ongoing, however I can reassure residents that there is no connection with the Norby incident.
Thirsk is a very safe place to live and has a low level of crime and anti-social behaviour and our enquiries so far, lead us to believe that this is an isolated incident.
However, enquiries are still very much active and we are still appealing for anyone with any information to contact us.
The first incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday 15 October 2011 when a brick was thrown through the door and a petrol can left outside the property.
In the second incident, just before midnight on Monday 17 October, a boulder was thrown through the window and a petrol can left inside the property.
