Children at St Peter’s CE Primary School in Harrogate celebrated harvest festival with a bountiful supply of food donated by families and boosted by fresh Yorkshire produce donated from deliciouslyorkshire members.
The school was presented with a range of freshly grown fruit and vegetables from family run Spilman Farming who are keen advocates of healthy eating and will be providing talks to St Peter’s Primary School children about the importance of eating fresh food. Vegetable grower Metcalfe Food 2 Survive , who donated rapeseed oil, supplies carrots to school fruit and vegetable schemes across Yorkshire.
Sweet treats were supplied by Harrogate Cake Company Ltd, whilst deliciouslyorkshire also gave away several copies of Yorkshire’s Own Kitchen, an invaluable source of expert advice on how to eat the best seasonally and locally which is considered the ‘bible’ for locally produced food and drink.

Sophie Waite, account and marketing communications manager at deliciouslyorkshire, said:
Harvest festival is a time to give thanks for food grown on the land, so as the champion of the region’s food industry we were eager to encourage our members to get involved. The ceremony at St Peter’s was a great opportunity to teach children more about fresh food whilst helping a worthy cause.
Julia Collins, headteacher at St Peter’s CE Primary School, added:
At St Peter’s the education and pastoral care of our children are at the forefront of the school’s daily routine. We aim to reflect Christian values as part of our daily activities, and the Harvest Festival is a key element of that. We would like to thank our families and deliciouslyorkshire’s members for their generous contribution to this year’s collection, which will benefit the elderly in the district.
