Arrests made over Harrogate play park blaze

Valley Gardens Blaze

Police in Harrogate have made a number of arrests in connection with the investigation into the fire that occurred at the Valley Gardens play park during the early hours of Saturday morning.

The individuals are currently assisting officers with their enquiries.

I am pleased that early arrests have been made.

This act of vandalism horrifies us all and members and officers of Harrogate Borough Council will do all we can to help the police to catch the culprits.

We will also explore all options to step up vigilance in Valley Gardens.

I would like to thank the Police and Fire services for their speedy progression of this incident.

This has been a very unfortunate incident for the children who all enjoyed the upgraded facilities

Witnesses or anyone with information that could assist the investigation are asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 0845 60 60 24 7, quoting reference number 12110170679.

  1. I would like to see those who carried out this act in the Valley gardens wearing bright orange boiler suits clearing this mess up and rebuilding it!!

  2. These vandals should be made to foot the bill for the damage and repair of the Play Equipment. They should also be made to work on the project to rebuilt it under supervision and instruction by qualified tradesmen and pay for their time. My granson who loves the area now has to wait to see what happens for the future.
