Need some help with the digital TV switchover? Drop in and speak to the team on the Free Advice Point to be held at Harrogate Library , Victoria Avenue, Harrogate between 10am and 4pm on the 7th and 8th of September for stage one of the switchover, and then on the 21st and 22nd of September for stage two.
The Emley Moor transmitter in the Yorkshire region switches to digital on the 7th and 21st of September. If you have a Freeview service and watch Yorkshire regional TV you will need to re-tune on, or just after, both dates so you don’t lose channels or miss out on services that you could get.
If you are watching 4 or 5 channels (analogue) then you will need to convert the TV to digital. People eligible for the BBC’s Switchover Help Scheme can still get help if they haven’t already applied.
Some viewers in the Harrogate area are served by the Tyne Tees TV region and they will not switch until 2012. Your signal may be affected by transmitters that have already switched during August. You can see when you switch, or what other transmitter signals cover where you live, by using the postcode checker on the Digital UK website at www.digitaluk.co.uk (enter your postcode and house name/number, then select “check other transmitters at this address” link to view other options).
Satellite and cable viewers are unaffected.
Go along to the free Advice Point to find out how to re-tune, get free information and advice, and see if you are eligible for the Help Scheme. Don’t forget about those TVs in the kitchen or bedroom – are they digital?
The Advice Point is being run by Harrogate & Area CVS in partnership with North Yorkshire & York Forum as part of the Community Outreach programme. The Advice Point team look forward to seeing you in Harrogate soon.
