Police urge public to help find Harrogate flasher

1 August 2011

Detectives in Harrogate are appealing for information after a man exposed himself to a female dog walker.

At around 9.30pm on Thursday 28 July 2011, the victim, a 43-year-old local woman, was walking along the footpath which leads from Tewit Well Road and York place, when a naked man emerged from behind a bush.

The victim was not approached by the man but was left very shocked. She reported the incident to the police when she returned home.

The suspect is described as white, aged between 30 and 40-years-old, around 6ft tall with a slim to medium build.

Officers are investigating the possibility that the suspect may be responsible for other reports of indecent exposure in the Tewit Well and Stray Rein area of Harrogate, over the past two years.

Detective Constable Helen Quaife, of Harrogate CID, said: “The police are advising people to be aware of this man and I urge anyone who witnesses similar suspicious activity to get in touch immediately.

“Although it is important to note that he hasn’t harmed anyone, this man’s behaviour is totally unacceptable. We are appealing to anyone who can help to identify him, to contact the police or Crimestoppers with information.”

Anyone with any information that can help the police with their enquiries is urged to contact Harrogate CID, on 0845 60 60 24 7, quoting reference number 12110126019.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
