HARROGATE hairdresser Joseph Ferraro was called in to help TV stylist Gok Wan transform his ‘Harrogate honeys’ when the presenter was in town filming for his latest show – which goes out on Channel 4 next week.
Joseph, 29, who runs Halo hairdressers in Cheltenham Mount, Harrogate, with his business partner Chris Burton, was invited to help celebrity hairdresser Jamie Stevens for Gok’s Clothes Roadshow, a new series that started on TV last night.
For two days, Joseph cut, coloured and curled hair for a hardworking group of female postal workers, as well as styling the locks for a team of models taking part in Gok’s famous catwalk face-off with Brix Smith-Start, which took place at Harrogate’s Royal Hall.
Joseph, a member of the elite hairdressing FAME Team and Sebastian Cult Team, has worked at London Fashion Week so is used to the pressure of a live catwalk show.
“It was great fun. None of the postal workers were allowed to see each other before the ‘reveal’ – they had to go home wearing shower caps to keep their hair styles under wraps,” said Joseph, who has owned Halo for the past four years.
“Both days were really exciting and I loved the buzz of taking part in a television show and helping make these women feel better about themselves. The experience renewed my enthusiasm for hairdressing – I came away feeling fresh and remembering what I love about my job,” he said.
