Flavours of Yorkshire showcased in tasty new guide

6 July 2011

Four Harrogate-based food and drink businesses are among Yorkshire’s talented culinary luminaries who feature in a mouth-watering guide which places the county firmly on the UK’s gastronomic map.

Produced by deliciouslyorkshire – which celebrates and supports the region’s producers -Yorkshire’s Own Kitchen is considered the ‘bible’ for locally produced food and drink, an invaluable source of expert advice on how to eat the best seasonally and locally. The guide features inspiring recipes from the region’s food heroes and celebrity chefs, alongside foodie features – including tips on how to pack a picnic with a punch – and much more.

Yorkshire’s Own Kitchen also boasts a detailed directory of contact details for some of Yorkshire & Humber’s best food and drink producers, retailers, hospitality sector and caterers, making it an indispensable guide on top quality places to eat, stay and buy in Yorkshire and Humber.

Clocktower at Rudding Park, Fodder, Jakes and The Sawley Arms are included alongside celebrity chef James Martin, star of Saturday Kitchen who has penned the foreword of the fifth annual guide – and has recently launched his new restaurant Leeds Kitchen.

Peter Banks, managing director at Clocktower at Rudding Park, said: “We’re proud to be involved with ‘Yorkshire’s Own Kitchen’ as it encapsulates the breadth and depth of the county’s talent and offering. There’s something for everyone and the guide’s new magazine format will appeal to all, from the most discerning foodie to the home cook.”

Jonathan Knight, chief executive of deliciouslyorkshire, says the guide reflects the county’s prestigious reputation, which is spreading far and wide as demand for Yorkshire’s products increases both nationally and internationally.

“Yorkshire is not only the UK’s biggest food producing region – as a county it also boasts the most Michelin stars. From chocolate to cheese, ales to apples and pies to piccalilli, our members offer an extravaganza of variety and choice.

“The guide reinforces the talent of our local producers and will whet many an appetite across homes in Yorkshire and the North of England.”
