Kylian Koussi’s 70th minute goal made it a fifth consecutive defeat at Gander Green Lane for Harrogate Town.
Luke Armstrong had scored from the spot to cancel out Harry Beautyman’s opener, but George Horbury’s straight red card three minutes after going behind for a second time paved the way for a fourth league defeat of the season .
Simon Weaver made five changes from Tuesday night, handing debuts to Deadline Day arrivals Josh Coley and Dior Angus.
Town had to withstand early pressure from the hosts, with Joe Mattock busy heading away an onslaught of Sutton deliveries.
Kayne Ramsay’s last ditch challenge prevented the hosts having the first real chance of the game as the full back slid in to deny Wilson.
The deadlock was broken in the 21st minute when Kizzi’s inch perfect delivery was met by Beautyman inbetween Jameson and Welch-Hayes, the Sutton attacker glancing into the net.
Both Angus and Coley were then denied debut goals by the woodwork. First Angus’ powerful effort bouncing back off the post, before Coley almost produced a wondergoal, only for his strike to bounce clear.
Town would pull level on the stroke of half time as Armstrong was brought down inside the Sutton area, but picked himself up to convert his first of the season from the spot.
Coley was lively again after the break, but the hosts would edge ahead again in the 70th minute as Eastmond’s effort ricocheted kindly to Koussi who finished well.
Three minutes later Town were reduced to ten men as Horbury was shown a straight red card for a late challenge in the middle of the park, leaving Town with an uphill challenge to resuce a point.
Ramsay fired into the side netting deep into stoppage time, but Town again left Gander Green Lane empty handed.
