Harrogate Town AFC have welcomed 6ft5 defender Kyle Ferguson to Town.
At the age of 22, Ferguson is very much in the early days of his footballing career but has already played football in America, Sweden, Ireland and most recently England with National League outfit Altrincham, where he signed in February 2022.
Although spending a short time in England’s fifth division, the young Scotsman boasted some impressive statistics, including winning 87% of his aerial duels – the best in the division.
Our second signing of the summer also has football in the blood as he’s the son of former Scotland international Barry Ferguson, as well as cousin to Lewis Ferguson who plays for Aberdeen and the Scotland first team.
Manager Simon Weaver believes Ferguson can have a big impact on the team’s defence, with his height and power being desirable attributes.
Simon said:
I’ve watched every minute of Kyle at Altrincham and we’re convinced he can go from strength to strength.
He will add height and presence, but he’s also mobile, which are qualities you rarely see together.
He has shown great desire in his young career so far to really kick on in the game, he’s been prepared to move out of his comfort zone and play in different countries, we’re confident he’s on an upward trajectory and look forward to seeing that progress continue with us.
Ferguson will wear number 24 at the club.
