Nine students from Harrogate Grammar School have offers from Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
Headteacher Neil Renton said:
We are incredibly proud of our students in securing offers at such world leading educational institutions. In the context of such difficult circumstances, students have shown resilience, independence and determination.
Much of their preparation and support took place remotely and this created different opportunities to support students in their application. Such fantastic offers, over a range of courses are a real testament not only to the hard work and determination of students, but also their families and teachers over many years.
The students were helped to prepare through the Sixth Form’s Scholars’ Programme which helps students develop the confidence, curiosity and independent thought to thrive at top universities. The Programme includes presentations by academics, discussion groups, interview workshops, mock interview sessions and support for any aptitude tests.
