Work is under way on a housing development at Marton Cum Grafton, which North Yorkshire County Council say will benefit not only the local community, but North Yorkshire’s taxpayers.
The Yew Tree Farm scheme will feature more than 20 two, three, four and five-bedroom homes and is being developed on behalf of North Yorkshire County Council by developer Brierley Homes.
- North Yorkshire County Council’s housing development company, Brierley Homes, sits within the Brierley Group, the trading arm of the Council. The group was established in 2017 to bring together council-owned companies. The group offers services within North Yorkshire and beyond. Other companies within the group are: Align Property Partners, First North Law, NYnet, Yorwaste, Veritau, NY Highways, North Yorkshire Education Services and NY Tech.
Brierley Homes was established in 2017 and is owned by the County Council, with all profits going back to North Yorkshire County Council..
Located within the Marton Cum Grafton conservation area and on the edge of the Vale of York, close to York and Harrogate, Yew Tree Farm is being delivered by Yorkshire-based construction firm Hobson & Porter and will take 14 months to complete.
Several barns will be refurbished as part of the scheme, while the new homes will be traditional in nature and in keeping with the farmhouse style of nearby residential buildings. Importantly, the scheme also includes provision for eight affordable homes to help to meet local demand.
All the properties will feature energy efficient air source heat pumps. These systems can help a household significantly reduce their CO2 output when compared to new A rated gas boilers.
