Spa retail hold public consultation event over new retail park for Harrogate

13 December 2018

Consolidated Property Group (CPG), has held a further public consultation event so that local residents can comment on amended plans for Harrogate Spa Retail Park in Skipton Road.

The plans are approved for the development, but they are looking to amend them so that there is one large food retail (where there were previously 4 retail units) and the previous 3 units to become 6. These are all changes on same footprint size.

Things to note:-

The overall height of the units is much lower compared to the previous plans for a Tesco

The discount food retailer has not been agreed

Junction Modelling has been used using currently committed development as a growth indicator

A new roundabout will be installed on the Skipton Road at the entry point to the retail park

The new roundabout will act as an upstream interrupter and allow for easier exit from Electric Avenue

There has been no indication that the bridge needs to be changed due to this scheme

Anticipated less than around 30 vehicle movements per hour

The current Aldi/ B&Q Junction will not be modified as part of this scheme, but this scheme could help

The site has a landscape buffer, Tesco’s were planning to use more of the plot.

The park could be operational by 2020, but revised plans need to go to Harrogate Borough Council early next year
