Two goals in five second half minutes at Aldershot, gave Town their first away victory in the National League.
Harrogate were unchanged from Tuesday night’s win over Barnet and they were first into the attack when Joe Leesley’s cross was only cleared as far as George Thomson, but home keeper,Jake Cole, blocked Thomson’s effort with his feet.
The Shots replied with a deep corner which found Dan Holman unmarked at the far post, but luckily for Town he was unable to take advantage.
An even first period, in which Town had their fair share of possession, ended with both sides unable to break the deadlock.
However,it took only eight minutes into the second half for Town to seriously threaten the home goal, when Callum Howe pushed forward and let fly a tremendous drive that Cole tipped over the crossbar.
Just before the hour,Town got themselves onto the scoresheet, when Dom Knowles robbed Lewis Kinsella, advanced into the area and fired into the far corner of the net.
Five minutes later Leesley’s cross into the box saw Thomson get the slightest touch to divert the ball past Cole for Town’s second.
Simon Weaver made three late substitutions to provide fresh legs and ensure the Sulphurmen saw off the remainder of the match without any real difficulty.
In fact, Aaron Williams almost added a third in added time, but Cole made an excellent save and block to keep out the follow up.
