Hundreds of guests enjoyed a sparkling night of entertainment when Martin House Hospice Care for Children and Young People held its annual Glitter Ball on Friday.
The ball, which took place at Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate, featured dinner, dancing and two auctions, along with a casino, provided by Grosvenor Casino, Leeds.
More than 450 guests enjoyed the evening, which has so far raised in excess of £75,000, with more money to come in.
Sara Cracknell, Glitter Ball organiser, said:
It was a fantastic night, we had some really lovely comments from guests on the night, and both staff and volunteers worked so hard to make it a memorable evening for everyone.
Emmerdale stars Jeff Hordley, Zoe Henry and Mark Charnock were among the guests, and Jeff auctioned off a tour of the soap’s set – which raised £6,000 – while ex-footballer and Celebrity Masterchef contestant Danny Mills auctioned a meal cooked in the winner’s home.
Guest speaker Manraj Sanghera, whose son Arjun uses Martin House, also gave a moving speech about her experience of the hospice.
Martin House provides care to children and young people with life-limiting conditions from across West, North and East Yorkshire – and their families. As well as respite stays at the hospice, it offers community support and bereavement support to families, and it costs over £8 million a year to run.
Sara added:
We’d like to thank everyone who donated prizes and supported the evening, and all the staff at Rudding Park who help to create such a special night.
