The Devonshire Hotel and Restaurants Group have been recognised as ‘The Best Hotel Group’ in winning a national hospitality industry accolade. Best Loved Hotels hosted a glittering black tie Awards ceremony on the evening of Monday 13th November at The Tewkesbury Park Hotel in Gloucestershire, where The Group was announced as the winner.
There were 22 Awards in total, including various regional winners and 12 specialist categories, which included ‘Best Hotel View’, ‘Best Hotel website’ and ‘Best Pet-friendly hotel’. The Awards, now in their 3rd year, celebrate a whole host of winners, representing the ‘Best of the Best’ of the UK and Ireland’s independently-owned hotels.
The shortlist for ‘Best Hotel Group’, sponsored by Castlemead Insurance, represented some of the world’s leading hotel groups, so the competition was stiff. In the running were Elite Hotels, whose properties include five star Luton Hoo Hotel Golf & Spa, The Red Carnation Hotels Collection, a global collection of fine hotels, including The Milestone in London, Brend Hotels, whose stunning coastal properties are highly renowned and The Robert Parker Collection, again a strong contender, with its superb collection of country house properties in the North of England and Scotland.
Richard Palmer, Managing Director Devonshire Hotels and Restaurants Group (DHRG), whose properties, all owned by The Duke of Devonshire, include The Devonshire Arms Hotel and Spa at Bolton Abbey, The Devonshire Fell, The Cavendish Pavilion, The Devonshire Arms at Pilsley, The Devonshire Arms at Beeley and several holiday cottages in the Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District, commented:
I am delighted that DHRG were recognised last night as one of the industry’s leading hotel groups beating larger, more established groups to this coveted award from Best Loved Hotels.
I’m especially pleased as this award is recognition of the effort and hard work that all the teams across our group have gone to in order to be the very best, it’s a tangible result of their commitment and loyalty.
Nominations for the Best Loved Awards opened in June 2017 and Best Loved customers were invited to nominate hotels where they had stayed and experienced ‘best in class’ stays.
Julian Ebbutt, Managing Director, Best Loved Hotels explained:
Ultimately our business is built on reputation, and so it’s key that we listen to our customers, the hotel guests, to learn of their personal experiences and feedback at all of the hotels in our collection; this is why we choose to base our Awards on the customer’s vote.
The wide range of Awards represents the diversity across our range of properties, demonstrating that there really is a Best Loved Hotel to suit everyone. I would like to thank and congratulate all of our winners for setting the bar so high, and keeping Best Loved guests happy time and time again.
