BBC Introducing will celebrate its 10th birthday on Wednesday 4 October 2017. As part of the celebrations, the BBC Introducing team at BBC Radio York are organising for twelve different bands from across North Yorkshire to play at 12 different locations in the county in 12 hours!
The BBC Radio York/BBC Introducing tour will kick off in Richmond with The Ceiling Demons who will perform live in their hometown. They will play in the stunning location of Richmond Castle at 6am and then Whitby based band Billy Lake Up will bring the day to a close at 6pm live from the Whale Bone Arch on the seafront in Whitby.
Other stop offs throughout the day include Harrogate Valley Gardens, Selby Abbey, Tadcaster Bridge and Clifford’s Tower in York.
At each iconic location, there will be a live performance from a band/singer who will perform an original track which will be recorded throughout the day on BBC Radio York.
All the local acts were handpicked by Jericho Keys who presents BBC Introducing on BBC Radio York. Jericho presents a regular BBC Introducing show on BBC Radio York at 8pm every Saturday. His show is dedicated to supporting unsigned, undiscovered and under the radar musicians from across North Yorkshire.
The Valley Gardens will feature Skinner at 10:30am
Skinner said:
I’m really looking forward to performing, BBC introducing has given me so much opportunity such as play on BBC radio 1 and 1xtra and my performances at Leeds and Reading festivals, it’s lovely to have the chance to perform in Harrogate where I grew up and still live!
I’ll be performing one track tomorrow and it’s always great to catch up with Jericho who’s always been a huge supporter of my music!
Jericho Keys said: This whole day is a fantastic way to celebrate North Yorkshire and its extremely talented music scene, as well as highlighting the BBC Introducing brand and supporting local artists from across the region.
