A powerful second half performance enabled Harrogate Town to run out comfortable winners over Ossett Albion, in their penultimate pre season friendly.
Early on,a brilliant one handed interception by visiting keeper,Arran Murphy, thwarted Town’s Dom Knowles, but it was Ossett who drew first blood after seven minutes.
A strong run down the right by Ryan Farrell ended with James Eyles lashing in the winger’s cross from close range.
Ten minutes later,Town were level when James Carroll beat Murphy with an excellent strike from twentyfive yards.
Town’s,Terry Kennedy, then pushed forward to head home a Rob Worrall corner, only for the referee to disallow the goal for pushing.
Harrogate took the lead for the first time, with the last action of the first half, when Marcus Day rounded the keeper and shot into the empty net.
Four goals in a ten minute spell early in the second half demoralised Ossett.
On fortynine minutes,Ethan Walshaw, unluckily turned Carroll’s low centre into his own net, then a brace of headers from Bailey Gooda made it five.
Dom Knowles, who looks close to full fitness, completed the scoring from close range.
The only black spot for Town was an ankle injury to Gooda which saw him stretchered from the field.
On Saturday,Town complete their pre season programme when they entertain,Neil Aspin’s,Gateshead.
Town scorers,Carroll 17,Gooda 51,58,Day 45,Knowles 59,Walshaw og 49. Ossett Eyles 7.
