The Aldborough and Boroughbridge Agricultural Show has issued a call for Yorkshire’s strongest tug of war teams to prove their mettle.
The historic show is this year celebrating its 104th anniversary with a move to a new venue at Newby Hall, near Ripon.
To mark the relocation, an inaugural tug of war will be staged to test the determination and courage of locals. Entry is open to teams of eight and closes at 12.30pm on the day.
Sponsored by Ellis Bates Group entry is £2 per person, with proceeds going to MacMillan Cancer Care and a £100 prize is up for grabs for the winning team.
Other exciting attractions include donkey, cattle and sheep showing classes, a heavy horse display and vintage vehicle parade. If the tug of war isn’t enough to prove themselves, locals will also have the chance to show off their talents in an assortment of competitions from baking and horticulture to handicrafts and farm produce.
Local produce will be available to buy at the farmers market and visitors can also enjoy afternoon tea while being serenaded by a traditional brass band.
