The Senior Partner of Harrogate-based McCormicks Solicitors has been named Agriculture Lawyer of the Year for the UK by Finance Monthly magazine.
Peter McCormick OBE was selected for the 2017 Award for his work with agricultural estates. He said: We work with many estates to help them to diversify their businesses, for example on the development of buildings into offices, pubs and restaurants, or to exploit leisure opportunities on their land to supplement their farming income.
McCormicks Solicitors is recommended for its work in Agriculture, Rural Affairs and Estates by the latest editions of both the leading guides to the legal profession, the UK Legal 500 and Chambers UK, with Chambers UK stating that Mr McCormick is “a great character and brings a real client-focussed approach to all matters”.
The firm also handles estate issues for charities such as the Outward Bound Trust and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, organiser of the Great Yorkshire Show.
Awards winners were selected through criteria including a public vote, supporting material, the amount of documented activity and involvement in significant legal cases.
