Cricketer Ryan Sidebottom visited pupils at Fountains CE Primary School as they prepare for their annual fundraising challenge.
The Fountains 10k aims to raise £10,000 for new IT equipment at the school in Grantley, Ripon.
The funds will enable a new interactive screen to be installed in the school hall and provide additional laptops to support the children’s learning.
Ryan, who plays for Yorkshire County Cricket Club, is patron of the charity behind the Fountains 10k which this year takes place on 2 April. As in previous years, it is accompanied by a children’s fun run.
Race director Mark Reed said: It is great to have Ryan on board this year and the children enjoyed meeting him and talking to him about the race. We’ve had fantastic support for this year’s event and thanks goes to all our sponsors for their generosity.
Sponsors include NGC Networks, Dacre, Son and Hartley, Lloyd Land Rover, Sainsbury’s, SubSports, Kettlewell Fuels, Deer Shed Festival and Hornseys.
The Fountains 10k follows a course of mixed terrain in beautiful Nidderdale, including country roads, off-road trails and scenic moorland. The race starts and finishes in Grantley.
