Brackenfield School in Harrogate took part in the world’s biggest coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research on Friday 23 September 2016 raising an amazing £625 for this worthwhile cause.
The money was raised by Year 6 pupils who planned and ran their own stalls including Name the Teddies, cake stalls, pre-loved books and toys stalls, guess the number of sweets in the jar, lucky dip and a golf putting game.
Each class was able to spend time enjoying the activities.
The morning started with an assembly on Macmillan Cancer Research where children learnt all about the charity from MacMillan volunteer, Rosie Szlumper and of course, plenty of coffee for parents.
Principal, Anthony Comerford was delighted with the success of the event:
This has been one of our most successful MacMillan Coffee Mornings. The children have thoroughly enjoyed running their stalls and have learnt a tremendous amount about how MacMillan care for patients with cancer but also about they care for the carers.
I would also like to thank all of our parents who came along to help make this so successful. We are thrilled to have again raised so much for this worthwhile charity.
