A Harrogate charity has appointed an expert in health and social care integration as its new Chair.
Neil Revely takes over the key role at Disability Action Yorkshire, following the retirement of Martyn Weller, who had held the position for a decade.
The arrival of Mr Revely, who has worked at Durham County Council, North Yorkshire County Council and latterly as Executive Director at Sunderland City Council, also heralds the organisation’s search for a number of new trustees to join the board.
Jackie Snape, Disability Action Yorkshire Chief Executive, said:
We are delighted to welcome Neil as our new Chair, and he joins us at a very exciting time for the charity.
Thanks to a number of recent grants we have been able to launch our ‘Own Goals’ buddying initiative, as well as a number of other schemes aimed specifically at social inclusion and putting disabled people first.
Martyn has been a fantastic Chair, and I know Neil will ably follow in his footsteps.
He has a wealth of experience in health and social care, and these credentials will help us to fulfil our commitment to helping disabled people lead as independent lives as possible.
In addition to Neil’s appointment, we are now seeking a number of new trustees. In particular we are keen to welcome young people and those with disabilities to join the board.
Mr Revely said:
Disability Action Yorkshire is a fantastic organisation and I’m very much looking forward to taking up the challenge this role will present me.
I am passionate about supporting the more vulnerable and creating the opportunities for people to live independent fulfilled lives, and so there is an ideal fit with Disability Action Yorkshire.
Mr Revely is known for his work on strategic commissioning, transforming services, health & social care integration, and creating innovative community solutions for independent living (especially supported housing and “Extra Care”).
He has been a member of the National Executive of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) since 2008 and currently chairs the ADASS Housing Policy Network as an Associate.
Mr Revely established Revely Consultancy Limited in May 2016 and currently works with a range of social care, health, and housing organisations and is an Associate of KPMG, the Chartered Institute for Housing (CIH), SITRA, and the Housing LIN.
