Minstrels, hobby horses and majestic birds of prey are all on offer at Knaresborough Castle and grounds this Saturday (13 August 2016), at the annual Medieval family day.
Visitors can enjoy a medieval battle tournament and musical entertainment, and have a go at archery, hobby horse jousting and sword fighting.
There’s an opportunity to discover the history of Knaresborough, explore the King’s Tower and see the original Tudor Courtroom at the museum.
The family fun day, which runs from 11am–4pm, also features Medieval crafts and badge making.
Diane Saxon, from Harrogate Borough Council’s Museums service, said:
The Medieval Day is always really popular, with visitors having a chance to find out what life was like in a bygone age as well as discovering the many attractions of the castle and its museum.
It’s a great family day out with lots of activities for everyone to have a go at, as well as an opportunity to see a Medieval tournament re-enacted – which is always a highlight.
Entry to the grounds is free; all the activities range from free to £3.
