A Harrogate accountant is in training for his second marathon of the year as he races towards his target of raising £20,000 for Breast Cancer Care.
Martin Holden, head of office at Saffery Champness in Harrogate, has already raised over £19k for the charity through a series of marathons and half marathons, including this year’s London Marathon, which he completed in just under four hours.
He is now preparing to run the New York Marathon in November in an attempt to hit his fundraising target.
Martin’s Transatlantic marathon challenge has been inspired by friends and family who have battled the disease.
Martin said:
Breast cancer has touched the lives of several close friends, relatives and colleagues and I am grateful for the incredible generosity of everyone who has sponsored me to date.
I could never have imagined that I’d be talking about raising this amount of money but it’s now within reach and the support I’ve received has inspired me to take on an extra challenge this year in aid of this very worthwhile cause.
