The sun shone on over five hundred people at the exhilarating finals of the Ogden of Harrogate Armada Dish and Silver Jubilee Plate competitions at Toulston Polo Ground on Sunday, 19th June.
Teams from all over the UK took part in the fiercely competed finals of the three day competition, the leading event in the north’s polo calendar.
The day got off to an exciting start when the Ogden-sponsored Leolene Lions won the Ogden of Harrogate Armada Dish in a tightly-fought contest, beating Mad Dogs 7 – 5 ½. The final of the Silver Jubilee Competition ended 12 – 1 ½, to Beverley, who secured victory over local rivals White Rose.
The annual tournament was sponsored by luxury jewellers Ogden of Harrogate, in association with Swiss watch brand Frédérique Constant. Christian Kaiser of Leeds was the lucky winner of the Frédérique Constant Mens Classic Manufacture watch in the prize draw.
Spectators enjoyed a champagne and jazz reception followed by a four-course luncheon in the Ogden enclosure, before settling down to an afternoon of chukkas and a browse of the Little Diamond Shop boutique.
Ben Ogden, Director of Ogden of Harrogate said:
Ogden of Harrogate has been a major part of this polo tournament for the last ten years and it was wonderful to have Frédérique Constant on board for the first time as an associate sponsor.
There is a special atmosphere at Toulston – glamorous yet relaxed – and we were lucky with the weather. The growing popularity of this event demonstrates that polo truly has a Northern base at Toulston and we at Ogden of Harrogate are very proud to be involved in such an exciting sport.
