Detectives are today renewing their appeal for information as they continue to hunt for convicted sex offender Barry Gibson.
Further to the information published yesterday, police can confirm that the last sighting of Gibson was on Thursday, May 5 – the day before he breached his court order – outside the taxi rank near York Minster.
He was last seen wearing dark trousers and a jacket which is red on the top half and a dark colour on the bottom half. He was carrying a JD Sports bag over his shoulder.
Members of the public are reminded not to approach Gibson if they see him, and call 999 immediately.
Barry Gibson, 55, was convicted of a number of sexual offences, resulting in him receiving a life sentence in 2000. He was released on license on 26 November 2015 subject to a number of conditions.
On 6 May 2016 Gibson, who was living in the Boroughbridge Road area of York, failed to comply with a condition. An order was issued to recall him to prison.
He has links across Yorkshire, particularly in the North and West Ridings.
