The Northern Magic Circle finished their two day conference in Harrogate with a fantastic, fun, laughter and mystery packed show case performance (10 April 2016 at Harrogate Theatre)
First up was Two Minds, they are duo, as you would maybe expect, that use shadows to create images of animals and people. Very clever with what can be done with just a projector and just two pairs of hands.
Katie Trickett with her magic bar act, mixing up cocktails with with a 1920s Charleston theme. The front row of the theatre benefited ably from the results of her magic. Councillor Nigel Simms, the current Mayor of Harrogate looked more than a little surprised.
Oliver Tabor performed a very clever routine based around a classical music performance, and always good to see a white dove or two during a trick.
Morgan and West are time travelling Victorian magicians. They performed a very clever trick with counting coins by only the sound of them falling into a glass.
Destiny is dynamic young female duo and are the Magic Circle’s Young Magician of the Year. They upped the pace and treated the audience to a couple of escapology tricks.
John Archer completed the evening. John is the The first man to fool Penn & Teller on ITV’s “Penn & Teller – Fool Us” and a past winner of the Magic Circle stage magician of the year and features regularly on the BBC. His timing and balance of comedy and magic was impeccable.
The evening was compared by the Wayne Goodman, an accomplished magician in his own right.
This was an evening of top quality magic, with some of the biggest names in the business. We are looking forward to next year!
Danny Hunt, NMC President 2015-16, said:
The convention was a great way to mark our 60th anniversary celebrations and I’m sure the Paul Daniels would’ve had a great time and have been very proud of the northern Magic Circle
