A cyclist is in critical condition after she fell from her bike near Ripon.
The woman in her 60s was seriously injured while cycling on Kirkby Road near its junction with Triplins Lane at Azerley. It took lace at around 1.40pm yesterday (Saturday, March 26, 2016)
The woman, from the Ripon area, was cycling with another woman and was heading from Ripon towards Grewelthorpe.
She lost control of her bicycle while negotiating a bend and fell to the road suffering serious injuries. The Yorkshire Air Ambulance attended and the woman was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where her condition is currently described as critical. It is not believed any other vehicle was involved.
The road was closed until 7pm to allow police to examine the scene.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone who saw the two cyclists in the area at the time of the collision to call North Yorkshire Police on 101 and ask for Andy MacLeod. Please quote reference 12160052675.
