Alex B Cann leaves Stray FM

1 March 2016

Alex B Cann has left Stray FM in Harrogate after 10 years on air.

He confirmed his departure on Friday, 26 February and has now left the company to pursue other opportunities.

Alex mainly presented the mid-morning show, a slot that has now been taken up by Will Smith.

Alex Cann said:

Wow, what a journey it’s been! Since joining Stray FM as a weekend cover presenter in Autumn 2005, there has never been a dull moment.

From jumping out of a plane at 22,000 feet with Sarah and Patrick for Saint Michael’s Hospice to raising thousands for the Harrogate Christmas lights; from charity bike rides for Parkinson’s and Ataxia UK to a ten-hour Boxing Day show covering the Christmas floods.

It has been an absolute pleasure working for Stray FM over the last ten years, and also our sister stations Minster FM and Yorkshire Coast Radio since 2002. I’m extremely grateful for all the opportunities I’ve been given, and every show has been a privilege.

I have lots of exciting plans, including writing, social media and broadcasting, but I will never forget my decade at Stray. Good radio stations never stand still, and Stray FM is up there with the very best in the world, let alone the UK. Good luck to the whole team for the next chapter in creating genuinely local radio for Harrogate, Craven and Wharfedale.

Sarah Berry, Managing Director at Stray FM, added:

Alex is a talented broadcaster whose commitment has contributed greatly to the success of Stray FM over the last decade. Such longevity is extremely rare in the world of broadcasting which deserves huge recognition.

There is never a dull moment in what we do and we’ve had countless laughs along the way, experiencing all kinds of weird and wonderful times – we shall all fondly miss the chatter about films, food, 80s music and Eurovision!

The Stray FM team wish Alex the very best for the future as he embarks on his next venture.
