Young singers from Harrogate will have a second chance to take to the stage with a former Britain’s Got Talent finalist when he returns to Leeds this month.
Rock Up and Sing!’s Youth Choir were due to perform with Jonathan Antoine, a classically trained concert tenor, in November. However, the star, who came second in Britain’s Got Talent as part of duo Jonathan and Charlotte, was taken ill hours before the concert and was forced to cancel.
Now, he is returning to Leeds City Varieties and has invited the young singers to be part of his show once again.
Musical Director Rhiannon Gayle said:
We had worked hard for our concert with Jonathan and were really disappointed when it had to be cancelled, but of course his health had to come first.
We’re thrilled to have been asked to join him once again for the rescheduled performance and we’ve been rehearsing hard again.
Anyone who saw Jonathan on Britain’s Got Talent will remember the wonderful reaction he had from the audience and his obvious passion for music. We’re looking forward to sharing his energy and enthusiasm on stage in Leeds.
Jonathan, who lost out in the final of the TV talent competition to Ashley and Pudsey the dog, has made the most of his second place in the three years since. With Charlotte, he sold more than a quarter of a million albums before embarking on a solo career.
He is the youngest tenor to have a number one album in the classical charts in the UK and has now carved out a successful career in America too.
As part of his first solo tour, he will perform with Rock Up and Sing!’s Youth Choir at Leeds City Varieties on Monday, January 18. Tickets are available from www.cityvarieties.co.uk.
