In order to support the local businesses and shops during the Christmas period, the council will be opening its Jubilee and Victoria multi storey car parks in Harrogate on Boxing Day (Saturday 26 December).
Victoria Car Park, which is located on East Parade, and Jubilee Car Park, which is on Union Street, will be open from 9.45am until 5.30pm.
Councillor Rebecca Burnett, Harrogate Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning and Sustainable Transport said:
The week between Christmas and New Year is a busy period for retailers, with consumers looking for bargains in the sales. It is also a popular time for tourists visiting our beautiful town.
We want to do all we can to make the experience as pleasant as possible, and as such we have decided to open our Victoria and Jubilee car parks on Boxing Day to ensure that parking is not an issue.
It is important that the council does all it can to support local businesses and opening our car parks will help them to have a successful Boxing Day.
