Road users in North Yorkshire are being advised that two lanes are now open on the southbound carriageway of the A1(M) between junctions 48 and 47.
Drivers are facing delays during the evening rush hour following an incident this morning which involved a van and two lorries, one of which was carrying 7,000 litres of vegetable oil. The carriageway had been reduced to one lane but lane 2 has just been reopened.
Highways England contractors are currently on-site and are working to clear the oil from the carriageway as quickly as possible.
Drivers using this section of the A1(M) are advised to plan their journeys and allow extra time to reach their destinations.
