When it comes to putting some ho-ho-ho into Christmas tree decorations, a Yorkshire charity has everything all stitched up this year.
Supporters of the Carers’ Resource have formed a group of knitters who have worked tirelessly over the last few months to bring to life more than 900 decorations boasting the ‘X-mas Factor’.
The woolly wonders, each of which contains a Ferrero Rocher chocolate, are being sold to raise money to support the growing number of unpaid carers in Yorkshire who will be looking after a loved one this Christmas and New Year.
The colourful collection, which features robins, snowmen, Santa hats and Christmas puddings, has been knitted by the charity’s army of volunteers as well as carers themselves.
Jean Eames (pictured), volunteer coordinator for the charity, which has offices in Harrogate, Ripon, Bradford and Skipton, said:
Members of our craft groups and knitters have given hundreds of hours of their time to bring this extra dimension to people’s Christmas – whether it be from the decorations with which people adorn their tree, or the extra difference the funds will make to carers looking after a family member, neighbour or friend.
We are extremely grateful for the enthusiastic way in which they continue to pick up their needles to support a good cause like ours.
Each decoration is £1.50 and they are available from across the charity’s network of offices, with further information available from www.carersresource.org
