A unique take on the Christmas advent calendar is being used to spread festive cheer and promote local shops and businesses in Knaresborough this year. The Knaresborough Advent Windows trail will see 24 Knaresborough shops launching a unique Christmas display each day in December in the run up to Christmas.
Each day in December, a new advent window opens. Look hard for the numbers on the shop windows, and inside you’ll find a sticker from the shopkeeper to stick to a special Knaresborough windows trail advent calendar. Collect all the stickers and complete the calendar to enter a prize draw.
Organiser and Town Councillor Hannah Gostlow said:
Follow us on Facebook and Twitter and we’ll reward you with clues to the location of the windows.
A trail card for the stickers will be available from the library, tourist information centre and participating shops. The trail is principally aimed at children, but anyone can take part.
Town Councillor Hannah Gostlow said:
The Knaresborough Advent Windows trail is not only a fun way for people to seek out the towns festive window displays, but to draw them inside, and hopefully to introduce them to shops and businesses they may not have ventured into before.
Local shop owner Emma Walsh from & Coriander said:
This is the first event organised by the Live Local initiative, a group of local businesses and residents who are coming together to find innovative ways to support the Knaresborough economy.
