A major milestone has been achieved at the Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate as the last bolt was fastened into position on the structural steel frame for the new £10 million events and exhibition hall.
When completed for next summer’s Great Yorkshire Show, New Hall 1 will provide an additional 4,320m2 of open span, versatile space, making it one of the North’s major event venues. The development will enable the Great Yorkshire Showground, owned by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society (YAS), to support a wide range of events throughout the calendar from blue chip company conferences to large dinners, exhibitions and sporting occasions.
Heather Parry, Deputy Chief Executive of YAS said:
We are delighted that our construction partner Clugston and architects P+HS have reached this exciting stage in the project, which is the largest in the Society’s history. There’s so much potential in this development for us, our region and beyond and passing each construction milestone is cause for celebration.
In addition to the exhibition space, New Hall 1 will also offer a café, large foyer, offices and dedicated seminar space, all set within a stunning 250 acre site located on the edge of the beautiful spa town of Harrogate. Work on the Hall will be complete by summer 2016 and it will connect with the adjoining Hall 2.
