The Harrogate Area Committee of North Yorkshire County Council have today (19 November 2o15) rejected plans to impose Sunday and evening charges in Harrogate.
The area committee does not have the power to halt to the implementation of the parking charges, it can only make a recommendation. It is a recommendation that can be ignored.
The committee voted:
14 votes in favour of rejecting, 0 votes in favour, 1 abstention
The proposal put to them of Sunday parking charges 10am – 6pm and an extension of day time parking until 7pm. Cllr Don Mackenzie abstained from the vote his has a cabinet role responsible for the final vote on the implementation.
14 votes in favour of rejecting, 0 votes in favour of accepting, 1 abstention
Evening parking charge extension to 7pm, currently 6pm
14 votes in favour of rejecting, 0 votes in favour of accepting, 1 abstention
Sunday Parking charges 10am until 6pm

A proposal that a working group was setup between Harrogate Borough Council and North Yorkshire County Council. This would be in 2016 and be a full review of the on and off street parking within the town.
David Simister voted against the proposal.
