A woman in her eighties left Barclays Bank on James Street after placing her handbag in a shopping bag on the rear of her mobility scooter. This was at about 2.10pm on Monday 24 August 2015.
A short time later she noticed that the shopping bag was open and her handbag was missing. The bag contained cash, a mobile phone and various other items.
Officers want to speak to a woman pictured on CCTV outside the bank on James Street as she may have important information that could help the investigation.
Anyone who can help identify her is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Harrogate Police.
