More than 65,000 stickers are being put on domestic wheelie bins over the next few months, to let residents know about changes to waste and recycling collection dates for this Christmas and the year ahead.
Harrogate Borough Council’s refuse collectors have this week (Monday 21 September) begun putting a sticker on residents’ wheelie bins advising them of the bank holiday collection schedule. They will be doing this throughout the district between now and December so everyone should have a sticker on their bin by Christmas.
The collections may be slightly ahead as well as behind usual collection dates so residents are asked to make a note of when their collection date will be so that they can put their rubbish and recycling out on the correct day.
Customers who are on the weekly sack service will be receiving a letter during October and November detailing the schedules for their bank holiday collections.
Details on how bank holidays will affect waste and recycling collections can also be found at:

Residents can also find out when their bank holiday collections will be by going to http://maps.harrogate.gov.uk/myproperty/index.asp. This shows the next four collection dates.
Councillor Michael Harrison is Harrogate Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Waste Reduction and Recycling. He said:
For operational reasons on bank holidays the council has to revise its waste and recycling collection days. It’s important that we notify residents of any changes to our service as we understand how frustrating it can be for those people who put out their waste and recycling on their usual collection day only to find that it hasn’t been collected.
Putting these stickers on wheelie bins provides residents with a highly visible long term way of keeping up to date with how bank holidays will affect their collections. I would encourage households to check the information in advance of holiday periods to ensure that their waste and recycling can be disposed of effectively.
Refuse collectors will be distributing the stickers and checking that they are on all the bins between now and the run up to Christmas. If anybody thinks their bin has been missed they can contact Harrogate Borough Council on 01423 500600.
The council now operates an email update service for residents, notifying them directly of collection changes, and other service issues. Any resident who wants to be added to this distribution should email customerservices@harrogate.gov.uk
Please could you send me a copy of the 2018/19 bin sticker, which gives bank holiday changes to waste and recycling collections as I have not received one.
Thank you
Amanda
