Dalesbus changes in Harrogate and Nidderdale

20 September 2015

Winter is coming and so DalesBus services will be switching to Winter timetables in October.

The Saturday service to Skipton will not serve Malham from October 3rd as very few people went beyond Skipton. This will enable a new timetable to be introduced on October 24th offering better timed buses for a full day or half day out in Skipton, Bolton Abbey or the Washburn Valley this winter. This service is run commercially by the Dales & Bowland Community Interest Company with no subsidy so for it to continue it must be well used all year round. Whilst in Skipton you could walk or take a bus up Gargrave Road to the new Keelham Farm Shop – avoid the parking problems and hop on the bus.

The last Nidderdale Rambler service will operate on Sunday October 4th. Unless new funding is forthcoming this may be the last ever service into Upper Nidderdale and to mark this a free guided walk will be offered by DalesBus Ramblers from Scar House Reservoir to Middlesmoor. Just catch the bus and join the walk.

TransDev service 24 will continue to operate hourly to Pateley Bridge on Mondays to Saturdays with a less frequent Sunday service. There will be no Sunday DalesBus services this winter from Harrogate but the 36 bus offers connections with DalesBus services in Leeds and Dales Rover tickets are valid on the 36..

A new venture this Autumn and Winter is a series of free guided walks on Saturdays using buses and trains in Malhamdale and Airedale. They can be accessed from Harrogate using buses to Ilkley or trains or buses to Leeds. These walks are organised by DalesBus Ramblers and the Friends of the Settle Carlisle Line and are open to all.

See www.dalesbus.org for full details of both walks and buses.

DalesBus services are managed and promoted by the volunteer-led Dales and Bowland Community Interest Company (a subsidiary of the Yorkshire Dales Society). DalesBus goes to places that other buses don’t serve and is affordable and reliable – just turn up and go!
