The Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) has secured over £40,000 of funding this year to help with conservation and improvements of The Pinewoods. The funds will be used for a number of key projects including the re-surfacing of a main path, professional removal of Himalayan Balsam plus the re-introduction of native wild flowers.
The amount included an award of £10,000 by Postcode Community Trust, a grant-giving charity, funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery and £15,000 by WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Limited).
Treasurer of the PCG Iain Ward-Campbell commented:
The group has worked hard to obtain these funds that will make a huge difference to the work we can undertake. All donations, grants and funding awards of any sort are always appreciated and put to good use within the Pinewoods.
Neil Hind, PCG Chair added:
The majority of projects are now underway or being planned with some hoping to complete this year. Some others are longer term so could take a few years to come to fruition with more funds being required.
Further fund raising is planned for the remainder of 2015 and into 2016 so additional works can be undertaken next year.
