From around 8am this morning (28 June 2015), Yorkshire Water began receiving reports of low water pressure and complete loss of water supply from properties in Harrogate.
A 9inch main supply pipe was found to have burst in the Stray area. Work to re-zone the effected area started immediately, diverting supplies from other areas to the effected areas.
Yorkshire Water received 150 calls of consumers not having water and 60 calls reporting low pressure. The fault had the potential to effect 900 properties in the HG1 and HG2 area.
Harrogate Hospital was not effected.
By 1:50pm supplies had been restored to all properties and the final repair on the pipe continues.
A spokesperson for Yorkshire Water said:
We apologise for the disruption to the water supply and acted as quickly as we could to restore.
By 1:50pm we had managed to complete temporary work to remedy the immediate problem.
