York Racecourse have said they are delighted that the team have won a Visit York Tourism Award for the third time in recent years.
The success came in the Conference Venue of the Year category where the work over 700 or more non raceday events was recognised.
Presented at a glittering ceremony, in the city’s railway museum, the evening was a celebration of the tourism industry in the city and surrounding area.
In what was an exciting night, the Racecourse was also a finalist in two other categories; the Visitor Experience of the Year and Family Friendly Experience of the Year.
At the turn of the year, York was voted as the Northern Racecourse of the Year by the members of the Racegoers Club for the 25th consecutive season, confirming the Knavesmire as their favourite flat venue.
William Derby, Clerk of the Course and Chief Executive at York, said: I am truly delighted for our hard working team here at the Knavesmire and we are honoured to be recognised with such a prestigious award.
The Visit York team and their sponsors, such as Saville Audio Visual who backed our category, put in a huge amount of effort to make it a successful event.
It is great to have been a part of it, of course, made all the better by picking up an award. It adds to the positive mood ahead of the Macmillan Charity Raceday next weekend.
We look forward to welcoming the horses, their connections and the racegoers as we raise money for good causes. We’ll be working hard to defend these accolades.
