A man who was assaulted in Richmond at the weekend has died in hospital.
Local man Andrew Jackson, aged 43, suffered a serious head injury when he was assaulted near the entrance to the Georgian Theatre, on Victoria Road, at sometime between 11.10pm and 11.25pm on Saturday 25 April 2015.
Andrew was receiving treatment at James Cook Hospital, Middlesbrough, where he sadly passed away this afternoon (Monday 27 April 2015).
Andrew’s family are currently being supported by specially trained officers and have asked for privacy at this extremely difficult time.
The investigation into the assault remains ongoing and officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Allan Harder, of North Yorkshire Police’s Major Crime Unit, said: “Andrew Jackson suffered a very serious injury when he was assaulted in Richmond on Saturday night and he tragically died on Monday afternoon.
“It is important that we find out exactly what happened to Andrew, therefore I am appealing to anyone who saw him on Saturday night between 6pm and 11.25pm to contact us with information about where he was, what he was doing and who he was with.”
