New under 21’s coach appointed at Harrogate Town

20 November 2014

Harrogate Town AFC have welcomed Paul Beesley back to the club in his new role as coach for the Under 21 Development Squad.

Paul, who played for Harrogate Town from 2011 – 2013 (making 32 appearances and scoring 13 goals) currently plies his trade at Vanarama Conference North rivals Gainsborough Trinity and is there leading league scorer with 6 goals at present. He will continue to play for Trinity whilst helping coach our Under 21 side.

Paul’s appointment comes as former Under 21 Head Coach Mike Bligh has had to step away from the role, due to him becoming Knaresborough Town’s new reserve manager (a role that he will combine with still working at Harrogate Town AFC as Club Secretary as well as continuing to be Head of Harrogate Town AFC’s Football Development).

The new setup for the Under 21’s sees Lewis Atkinson become Head Coach whilst Paul will work alongside him in a coaching capacity.

At present, the Under 21’s lie in fifth position in the West Riding County F.A. U21 Floodlit League and have a cup match against Beeston to look forward to on the 24 November 2014 (kick off 20:15 at St Mary’s High School, Leeds).

Talking about Paul joining, Mike Bligh said: The appointment of Paul was an easy one, Paul has the determination, knowledge and enthusiasm required to further enhance our already successful development set up, Paul can count on the full backing and support of the development staff as he gets used to working with the various squads.
