Detectives investigating a sexual assault in the Jennyfields area of Harrogate have arrested a local man in connection with the incident.
The man, aged 50, was arrested in Harrogate on Saturday 18 October 2014, and has been released on conditional police bail following questioning, to allow for further enquiries.
Officers have been offering the victim continued specialist support since the incident, which occurred Tuesday 14 October 2014.
Despite the man’s arrest, the investigation remains ongoing and detectives are urging anyone with information who hasn’t yet spoken to the police, to come forward.
Detective Inspector Nichola Holden, of Harrogate CID, said: Enquiries into this serious incident are very much ongoing, however I would like to reassure local residents that we have made significant progress this week. In addition, regular patrols will continue in the Jennyfields area to provide extra reassurance to the public.
We are still seeking information about this incident and I urge any witnesses to get in touch with the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.
