Extracts from more than ten smash hit musicals will light up the Harrogate stage next month featuring a host of talented local performers.
Multi award-winning Roald Dahl musical Matilda, featuring lyrics and music by comedian Tim Minchin, will top the bill alongside Dahl’s 2014 Olivier award winning musical Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.
Long standing musical classics such as Les Miserables, Top Hat, Jersey Boys, Crazy for You, Godspell and Chicago will also feature in the lively Harrogate St Andrew’s Players (HSAP) production entitled The Only Way is Broadway.
The show, directed by Yorkshire musical production duo Louise Denison and Jim Lunt, will showcase the talents of a mainly Harrogate cast some of whom are performing arts students from St Aidan’s Church of England High School.
St Aidan’s student Jeremy Davidson is one such student taking part in the production at Harrogate Theatre from October 23 – 25.
Jeremy said: I have done lots of shows in the past such as Carousel with Opera North and Wizard of Oz at the West Yorkshire Playhouse but I thoroughly enjoy working with our choreographer Louise Denison and musical director Jim Lunt who always pull off a great show together.
In the future I hope to go into musical theatre so being in a varied show like this is a great experience for me.
The show, which follows a sell out run of Grease in October last year, is aimed at audiences of all ages and there will be a matinee production at 2.30pm on Saturday, October 25.
Tickets are priced £15- £18 and are available by calling the Harrogate Theatre box office on 01423 502116.
