Harrogate High School students ended last week in fine form as the school launched its first VMG challenge.
P.E teacher Lee Wilson organised an afternoon of enjoyable, challenging fun. The VMG challenge comprised of Vertical Mentor Groups, (the school’s equivalent to form time where groups are made up of students of all years) competing in different activities for group points.
Challenges included the traditional egg & spoon and three legged race, intuitive team building activities such as a tower challenge and agility run and more academic competitions such as the Countdown inspired Literacy Challenge.
Lee Wilson said: It was a great event because all students were engaged in a variety of activities which demanded team work, patience, organisation and creativity.
And it was not only the students who revelled in the challenge. Staff also competed which according to Lee developed “healthy competition between VMG tutors/ Continent leaders and students which was brilliant to see.”
Vice Principle, Ann Francis rounded off the afternoon said: It was as an excellent end to the week with so many students absorbed in just having fun!
A highly successful first VMG challenge, with undoubtedly more to follow.
