A man has been found unconscious in the grounds of Ripon Cathedral and is now receiving medical treatment.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: Officers were called at 7.40am on Sunday 10 August 2014, following a report from a member of the public that an unconscious man was in the grounds of Ripon Cathedral.
On arrival they found a 50-year-old man who had collapsed and was in need of medical treatment. The officers carried out CPR prior to the arrival of paramedics.
The man was taken to Harrogate District Hospital, where he currently remains in a serious condition.
There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
